I was searching for a natural solution to help my wife achieve better sleep. My search drifted towards Cannabidiol (CBD), largely because I tried CBD several years ago. It worked, but was too difficult and too expensive to pursue on a regular basis.
In my searches, I uncovered some information that was a bit disturbing. CBD has lost its "GRAS" status. GRAS is an acronym for Generally Recognized As Safe. 100% CBD doesn't necessarily mean there is no THC. The possibility of any THC content can mean loss of a commercial license. Not acceptable risk to me (as a commercial licensed driver).
Continuing my search led to CB2. More precisely CB2 receptors. CB2 receptors help in keeping your gut moving, helping your immune system, reduce inflammation, and regulate eye (intraocular) pressure. There are more benefits but these are the main areas. One product range I found that triggered these type of responses contains beta-caryophyllene (BCP). The product range is made by Cannanda and includes CB2 Wellness, CB2 Hemp Seed Oil, CB2 Hemp Seed Oil Vegan Softgels, and CB2 Salve.
I was satisfied enough from research so far to try this out. While on vacation, I found a local health store that stocked the product. I set off and purchased CB2 Hemp Seed OIl in Ginger flavour. Will it help with my wife's sleeping? My sleeping? Could it possibly help with my knee pain (I'm due for knee replacement surgery)? Could it help with shoulder pain (I'm a side sleeper and both shoulders ache)?
That night we both took one teaspoon of the oil. I was walking down the stairs in the morning and stopped dead in my tracks about half way down: no pain in my knees, no pain in my shoulders, no gut pain, no sleep fog. My wife reported no pain in her hip, no back pain. We have both been continuing the CB2 Hemp Seed Oil regimen since then ... and still no pain.
My sleep has improved. I still wake at night and getting back to sleep is easier. Walking is more refreshed and always without the brain fog associated with other sleeping aids.
I have Idiopathic Chronic Pancreatitis (idiopathic means no known cause). Recall that the defining symptom of pancreatitis is pain. The second is steatorrhea. Steatorrhea manifests as oil in your poop. A nasty oil that you can't control ... it ends up leaking onto (and staining) your clothing. The oil color can be very light to a dark brown. Steatorrhea is not painful, it is embarassing.
My self-treatment for pancreatic pain focused on a strategy to reduce the inflammation using sodium bicarbonate (commonly: baking soda). Baking soda is an inexpensive powder available in discount, convenience and grocery stores – make sure it has no additives like aluminium. It works. It works very fast. And it's inexpensive. Plus it eliminates the need for narcotics.
Treatment for the steatorrhea is a strange discovery. My gastroenterologist recommended a dietician who suggested bulk enhancing with psyllium husks or bran. Before trying that, I discovered (quite by accident) that using an Omega-3 supplement worked perfectly. Very strange, an oil based capsule eliminating oil output (steatorrhea). Steatorrhea is the result of the body's inability to digest fats. Like bacon. It can digest the meat on a bacon strip, but not the fat. Pork chops, and other meats. All not friendly to someone with pancreatitis. Omega-3 to the rescue. Now I use both Omega-3 (one at each meal) and psyllium husks (one tablespoon in AM and PM). Omega-3 to manage the steatorrhea and psyllium husks to aid in motility.
I have now been using baking soda to treat the pancreatic pain for over 14 years. It works fast. It has had one good side effect in that it also reduces the inflammation of arthritis. Keep in mind that anything ending in "itis" means it is related to inflammation. Baking soda, however, has no effect on any other type of pain.
CB2 Hemp Seed Oil works on all inflammation. I am totally amazed at how quickly it took away the pain around my knee, shoulders, and hips. It's helping with pancreatic pain too. The effects of baking soda on pancreatic pain is like a sliding scale. On initially taking baking soda, the effect is at its maximum. As time goes on, the effects dwindle. That's why I recommend taking baking soda in at least four doses ... maximizes the effectiveness for a longer period of time. The longest time period, though, when the effectiveness is at its lowest is after your last dosage for the day. In my case, I can start to feel the pain coming back while I am sleeping. It causes sleep disturbances. I take the last CB2 Hemp Seed Oil dose before bed and it lasts through the entire night. No more pain during sleep. I'm sure that is contributing to improved sleep ... but, hey, I'll take better sleep any way I can get it. At this writing, I am taking the CB2 Hemp Seed Oil twice a day, spread out about at the twelve hour mark for both. One teaspoon each.
I'd suggest you order them from Amazon Canada. Once you do, you'll get an email with an offer to join the VIP Club and get some additional discounts. I am not paid for this article and I am not an Amazon affiliate. My opinions are mine entirely and I hope you find them helpful – but keep in mind, they are strictly opinions and not any type of medical advice.
PS. CB2 Hemp Seed Oil contains Omega-3 and Omega-6. At this writing, I am not sure of the mg per ml, but I will likely switch to trying this in the coming week. Check back again for results.
