Talk about changes in less than two weeks!

In less than a two week period:

  • PHPMailer2 is now PHPMailer Pro
  • Form2Mail is now PHPMailer-FE
  • Bounce Mail Handler is now PHPMailer-BMH
  • https://phpmailer2.com is now https://phpmailer.pro

What drove these changes?

Really simple, I'm ticked. A few years back, the current admin of PHPMailer hacked into my Sourceforge page. He removed PHPMailer-FE and PHPMailer-BMH. Both solely authored by me. Both leading in their product categories. Both safe and secure. When I regained health and started working on Open Source projects again, I started all over again – that is until I started reading revisionist history by the current admin of PHPMailer. That, and considering the slight on hacking my Sourceforge account is enough - I'm already disappointed with the direction of PHPMailer.

One example of revisionist history: he claims that he and I took over the PHPMailer project in 2004 ... absolute hogwash. Brent Matzelle handed me the project in 2007 and I solely was the author. After regaining market share, a few contributors provided some code snippets. I still have the original emails from the current "author" asking to join the project ... dated in late 2007. Not 2004. His contributions until 2011 were minor. He took over the project in 2012. I did note at the time that PHPMailer was headed in the wrong direction ... the "author" was using code he found on PHPClasses.org ... untried, untested. He had to withdraw that version ... and it did not improve much from there.

There is something better, PHPMailer Pro.
